Meet Our Pastor

Welcome Pastor Claybourn!

On Sunday, July 6th, we will welcome Pastor Charles V. Claybourn as our new pastor. Pastor Claybourn was born in Casablanca, French Morocco, where his father was an officer in the Air Force. He met his wife, Joan, during his high school years in Rapid City, South Dakota and they were married in February of 1973. Together, they raised four children, the oldest three, as well a one of their spouses, are teachers. Pastor Claybourn spent 25 years in discount retail management and traveled throughout the country during those year, always remaining connected with the Methodist Church.

Pastor Claybourn landed in South Jersey 20 years ago and joined a small Mehtodist Church in Salem, where he served in several positions including Treasurer, Administrative Council Chair, Lay Leader, Certified Lay Leader, Adult Bible study teacher and began as a candidate in the candidacy for ministry process. He was appointed in July of 1995 to Paulsboro Billingsport UMC and Repaupo UMC, where he served 12 years.

His first grandchild was born on November 11, 2007 in Harrisburg and he and Joan moved here later that year.

Pastor Claybourn is currently working full-time for Verizon Wireless and Joan is an Administrative Assistant for the Bethesda Mission. They are excited to meet each one of you and join us in ministry at St. Marks. Pastor Claybourn is a Licensed Local Pastor and will be serving St. Marks as our half-time Pastor. We welcome them!
